Bren Mar residents Matthew Salcedo and his dad, Marvin, hang loose Hawaiian style with a cone of shaved ice Aug. 6 at a National Night Out block party. Although Marvin’s roots are planted in Hawaii on the Island of Maui, his 20-year-old son has lived here most of his young life and studies visual art nearby at the Northern Virginia Community College.
